IT Data Engineer - Python data engineer (Apache Spark)

Experis is currently supporting our client, a premier global insurance brand, with their search for a Finance IT BA with Finance IT Integration Expertise. We are looking for a specialist with several years of experience in insurance or financial industry, and strong SQL & Data analytical skills. About the project:

You will join a team building the future of Group Finance in Microsoft Azure; with a lakehouse primarily using a medallion architecture, delta lake tables and Databricks. Due to increasing demand, the client is evaluating expanding the scope of our repository to handle more diverse and larger datasets. This position requires someone who can analyse these requirements and translate them into working, scalable software that can ingest, model and ultimately serve the data. This is not a data science position, but rather an opportunity for a solid software engineer who can and has built solutions that reliably, accurately and quickly process data.

Your responsibilities:

* Analyse the new ingestion, modelling and serving requirements

* Effectively implement the new requirements in our repository

* Write clean code in Python (utilising Apache Spark) that solves difficult problems elegantly and appropriately

* Work on wider design and implementation topics e.g. data modelling, #Azure #DevOps pipelines, Azure Data Factory

Your background:

* Strong core #Python software engineering experience

* Good understanding and significant experience with projects using relational data models and #SQL

* Experience in building reliable and accurate data processing applications with Apache #Spark and Delta Lake tables

* Value clean code practices and know how to develop reliable, robust and accurate software

* Excellent English
