Overview of the role

At our pharmaceutical client in Basel, Lynx provides a single access point to the reference data by connecting to and allowing querying relevant semantic systems available (GDSR, RTS and HDAP). Reference data contains clinical data standards to document and guide clinical trials, e.g. controlled terminologies, the specification of questionnaires and lab measurements, STDM and ADaM variables, etc. The Lynx application provides a mechanism to query such systems in a federated way, exploiting their already exposed (semantic) API.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and enhance the Kubernetes Cluster on which the application is deployed on (incl. checking system monitoring, tracking performance, maintaining user groups, updating documentation...)
  • Identify technical issues and develop fixes accordingly
  • Partner with the responsible infrastructure service (CaaS) to troubleshoot potential downtimes and manage resources of the different environments
  • Perform Installation Verifications and deployments during system releases
  • Look to automate and improve development and release processes
  • Collaborate with the developers to ensure that development follows established processes
  • Explore and implement performance optimizations (caching, additional full text indexes
  • Be the point of contact for the L3 Operational Support Team

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or other relevant field, experience or other certification also valid
  • 2-4 years experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar software engineering role or software developer
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Gitlab or Jenkins and proficiency with git and git workflows
  • Experience with Bash or/and Python
  • Experience with basic IT Infrastructure tools & processes, incl. Linux, network connectivity
  • Business fluency in English
  • Problem-solving attitude and being open to learning new things (jenaTDB, graphDB)
  • Teamplayer
  • Self-driven (only DevOps Talent in team)
  • Analytical mindset and problem solving personality

Nice to Haves:

  • Familiarity with Semantic Web and Graph databases is a plus
  • Pharma experience
